Kathryn (Raines) Cooper

April 9, 1933 — February 23, 2011

Mrs. Kathryn R. Cooper, age 77, of Old Highway 1 in Wadley, entered into rest Wednesday afternoon February 23.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 26, in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hibberts and Rev. David Boggs officiating. Pallbearers will be Ben Cooper, Bryan Cooper, Britt Cooper, Charles Pollett, Jr., Charles Wimberly, Jr., and Sam Arrington, Jr. Burial will be in the Central Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Cooper, a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late John M. Raines, Sr. and Florence M. Raines. She was a bookkeeper for R. G. Foster & Co. for 25 years and a retired representative of the Woodmen of the World Insurance Company. She was a past secretary and treasurer of the Top of Georgia Airstream Park. She loved her grandkids and making afghans for her friends and shut-ins. She also loved playing Joker and fellowshipping with friends at the Top of Georgia.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: John M. Raines, Jr., William Raines, and Tilla Raines, and is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack D. Cooper, Sr. of Wadley; sons: Jack "Gus" D. Cooper, Jr. and his wife Angie of Wadley, Philip H. Cooper, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Guyton; sister: Jane R. Wimberly; brother: Larry Raines, Sr., both of Wadley; grandsons: Ben Cooper (Ashley), Bryan Cooper (Kimberly), Britt Cooper, Philip H. Cooper, Jr., Nicholas Cooper; granddaughter: Jessica Cooper; great-grandson: Colton Cooper; and a very special niece: Cheryl Arrington.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening, February 25 at the Louisville United Methodist Church, 301 W. 7th Street, Louisville, Georgia 30434.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Louisvile United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 269, Louisville, Georgia 30434.
