Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Joshua Mathew Cowart of Wadley, who died on May 17, 2024.

The funeral services will be on Friday, May 24, at St. John's Methodist Church, at 2:00 pm, presided by Rev. Chad Watkins and Mr. Wallace Smilley. Burial will follow in the Cowart Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Gantt, Tim Frawley, T.J. Moore, Ashley Cowart, Travis McArthur, and Josh Bedingfield.  Honorary pallbearers will be Therese Deriso and Stormi Deriso.

Josh was a son of Gary and Rita Cowart of Wadley and worked in the forest industry most of his adult life.  He considered himself the best cutter machine operator around.  His daddy called him a jack of all trades because there was nothing he couldn't do once he set his mind to it.  His goal in life was to get his CDL license and be a local container hauler.  He loved his two sons unconditionally.  Josh would on many occasions sit down with his son, Grayson, and any other kid that was around to tell them stories about his life, often telling them not to do some of the things he had done.  It was a daily routine, sometimes two times, to call his momma and the first thing out of his mouth was always "what y'all doing".  Josh was a very likeable person.  He always liked to be a jokester.  He was a diehard Bulldog, Falcon, and Braves fan.  Often during a dawg's game, he would jump up out of his recliner and holler at the top of his voice when the dawgs scored or won.

Josh is predeceased by his grandparents, Cephus & Josephine Cowart, & OB and Bertie Rigdon great-grandparents, Joe and Alice Black and his uncle's Larry Cowart and Ricky Rigdon.  He is survived by his parents, his sons Grayson Cowart of Matthews and Matthew Cowart of Tennile, a brother Richie Cowart of Wadley, Uncles Joel Cowart (Brenda) of Wadley and Mike Cowart (Sandy) of Wadley, and Jack Rigdon (Betty) of Cannoochee, Aunts Bonnie Jarrel (Gary) of Metter and Penny Watson (Tim) of Twin City and his fiancée Tracy Raines, several other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service Friday at the church.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
