Joseph William Chalker

Mr. Joseph William "Joe" Chalker, age 93 of 3037 Bastonville Road Gibson, Georgia died Thursday, January 10, 2013.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 14 in the Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be J.L. Chalker, Robert Chalker, G.T. Norris, James Norris, Troy Hadden, W.J. Faglier, Louis Swint and Sidney Swint and Honorary Pallbearers will be Dan Chalker, Kendall Chalker, Joe Dean Usry, Warren Hart, Bossy Hardin, and Donald Kent.
Mr. Chalker was a native of Glascock County and a son of the late Aytch and Dillie Peebles Chalker. Joe served in the 752 Army Engineers Support Company during World War II. He worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation for 32 years as a civil engineer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Corene Swint Chalker, 5 brothers, John Roy, Ray, Harry Lee, Bobby and Watson Chalker, 3 sisters Berta Norris, Sally Norris, and Inez Hadden and is survived by daughter Joyce Elaine Fry (Larry) of Huntsville, AL, 2 grandchildren Ed Fry (Lisa) of Atlanta, GA, Laura Ann (Todd) Aronson of Madison, AL, 5 great-grandchildren Madison Leigh, Lindsey Caroline, and Davis William Fry, Taylor Marie and Alex Scott Aronson, one brother Talmadge (Mary) Chalker of Gibson, GA, 1 sister-n-law Peggiann Chalker of Wrens, GA, 10 nephews and 6 nieces.
The Chalker family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 13, at Sheppard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church in care of Renee Kelly.
