Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mr. John Mitchell Henson, age 76, of Louisville who died Tuesday morning, March 11, 2025.
Services to celebrate John's life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, March 22, in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, Louisville, with Rev. David Boggs officiating and Mitchell McGraw assisting. He will be laid to rest in the family plot in Louisville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
John was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He was the son of the late Cleve Howard Henson and Harriet McNeely Henson. John attended Louisville Academy and the Moxley Methodist Church for many years. John lived his life serving the youth and was always willing to volunteer his time as a trainer at the middle and high schools for both Louisville Academy and Jefferson County, as well as running the scoreboard at Jefferson County Recreation Department. The community will have a void that can never be replaced. In his spare time, John loved to watch old westerns, John Wayne movies, and the Atlanta Braves. But his greatest pastime and love was for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Mr. Henson was preceded in death by his parents, and longtime companion Wanda Brooks, brother, Jack Henson and is survived by sisters, Evelyn Sinclair (John) of Lawrenceville, Mary Ann Henson of Lawrenceville, and Martha Henson of Duluth, brother Clayton Henson (Lynda) of Douglasville, sister-in-law, Karen Henson of Powder Springs and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
