Mrs. Joanne D. Mathis, age 86, of Louisville, entered into rest Friday evening, November 16, 2018.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. T.F. Yawn officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Charles Roberts Jr., Wesley Jones, Gerald Davis, Ricky Davis, Frank Youngblood III and Chuck Cason. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Mathis, Roy Mathis, J.L. Chalker, Roy Black and Charles Roberts Sr.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Joanne was the daughter of the late Marion Wallace Dunbar and Emmagene Monteith Dunbar. She was a graduate of North Augusta High School and retired from Johnson Motor Company in Thomson as a bookkeeper. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charlie L Mathis and sister, Mary Ruth Lethgo and is survived by sons and daughters in law; Charles & Libby Mathis of Louisville, Steve & Lynn Mathis of Mitchell, daughters and sons in law; Susan & William Bonee of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lynn & Mark Eldridge of Brandon, Mississippi, sister, Genie Broome of Hendersonville, N.C., 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, November 19, at the funeral home.
