Mrs. Joann M. Chalker, age 81 of N. Usry Street Gibson, Georgia died Saturday August 24, 2013 in the Trinity Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Gibson United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Chance & Rev. Russell Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Kent, Mike Trankersley, Trey Shultzaberger, David Hammett, Bruce Haislip & Grayson Harrell.
A native of Grange, GA Mrs. Chalker was the daughter of the late Cleon L. & Norene English Murphy; she was a member of Gibson United Methodist Church for 74 years and retired from the Glascock Board of Education after 25 years of service as a Para Pro then drove a school bus for several years.
Mrs. Chalker was preceded in death by her parents, & her son, Lindy M. Chalker, Jr. and is survived by, daughter, Kathy Chalker of Gibson, sisters, Billie Burch, of Clemson, SC, Betty Harrell, of Augusta, Faye & Bill Haislip of N. Augusta, SC, daughter-in-law, Shirley Chalker, of Evans, God-son Trey Shultzaberger, grandchildren, Becky & Nisan Yereman, Amy & Rich Iannacone, great grandchildren, Ari & Mila Yereman, & Shelby & Kaylee Gough, several nieces & nephews.
The family may be contacted at the residence on N. Usry Street in Gibson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gibson United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Neumann & Trinity Hospital for the care given.
The Chalker family will receive friends 6:00 till 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral Home.
