Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services for Mr. Jimmy Goodwin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away on February 14, 2026, in Louisville, Georgia, at the age of 81. Born on December 23, 1944, in Gough, Georgia, Jimmy led a life filled with purpose and dedication to his family and community.

A funeral service to honor Jimmy's life will be held on February 17, 2026, at Louisville Methodist Church, located at 301 W 7th St, Louisville, GA 30434, beginning at 11:00 AM. with Rev. Dan Underwood, Mr. Barry Wren, Mr. Joe Cheeks, and Rev. Charlie McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Louisville City Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Chip Clark, Michael May, Bailey Wren, Bryson Goodwin, Josh Williams, Christopher Holdeman, Tim Watkins, Mitch Cowart, and Ronny Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Buddy Carroll Sunday School Class, Louisville Methodist Men, and the Stone Wall Lodge #98 F&AM members. Friends and family will gather to celebrate the remarkable life of a man who made a significant impact on those he loved and the community he cherished. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A proud veteran, he served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His career spanned various roles, including his time as a manager with Piggly Wiggly. He later became co-owner of Wrens Hardware where his work was marked by a strong dedication to customer service and community engagement. He also helped with Watkins Milling Company. Jimmy was deeply involved in his faith and was a longtime member of Louisville Methodist Church. He participated actively in the Buddy Carroll Sunday School Class, the Red Tie Group, and the Men’s Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. For several years, he worked with the Kairos Prison Ministry, reflecting his compassionate nature and desire to uplift others in challenging circumstances. Fishing was one of Jimmy’s favorite hobbies; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He cherished every moment with them, creating lasting memories that will be forever treasured.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, William Wesley Goodwin and Mattie Lee Rowland Goodwin, and a sister, Martha Jean Henderson and is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Patsy Wren Goodwin; his sons, Wes Goodwin (Sharon) and Chris Goodwin (Karla); his daughter, Ashley Watkins (Tim); grandchildren David Jackson, Victoria Mitchell Cowart, Kaitlyn Holdeman (Christopher), Taiylor Williams (Josh), Bryson Goodwin, Lane Watkins, Wren Watkins, and Parker Watkins; as well as great-grandchildren Drew Jackson, Ivy & Emmie Cowart, Ellie Reu Holdeman, and Jase Williams. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Cullars (Glen); brother, Bill Goodwin (Carla); sister-in-law, Diane Hadden (Ralph); and brother-in-law, Barry Wren (Cyndi); along with several nieces and nephews who held him dear.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Scholarship fund at Stone Wall Lodge, C/O David Leonard, 1470 Sylvan Grove Road, Stapleton, GA 30823

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the Church.
