Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death of Mrs. Jeanne Gloria Welch, age 83 of Steep Hollow Road, Gibson, who died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014 in the Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank McGahee, David Usry, Keith May, Charles Hadden, Jeff McGahee and Travis Dixon.
Mrs. Welch was a native of Gainesville, GA but had lived in Gibson for many years. She was the daughter of the late Winifred and Agnes Glisson Simpson. Jeanne had been a member of Bethel United Methodist Church since 1993 where she was on the historical committee, and she had an integral part in starting the Glascock County Library. She had been in the real estate business for over 35 years working with Knox Realty in Thomson.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Bud M. Welch, a brother; Rudy Simpson and is survived by her son; Michael Crawford (Peggy) of Louisville, daughter; Kimberly Crawford Hardy (Martin) of Gibson, sister; Peggy Owens of Gainesville, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, stepson; Steve Welch (Trish) of Appling and stepdaughter; Amanda Dixon (Travis) of Appling, many nieces and nephews.
The Welch family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2014 in the funeral home.
