Mr. James Thomas Rivers Jr., age 59, of Louisville, died Sunday morning March 6, 2011 in an Augusta hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10, in the Louisville Associate Reform Presbyterian Church on Walnut Street with the Reverend R. Douglas White officiating. Burial will be in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pall Bearers will be Michael E. Cofer, John J. Gordy, David C. Irwin, John H. Lewis, E. Michael Sanford, and Richard T. Sapp. Honorary Pall Bearers will be the Deacons and Elders of the Louisville Associate Reform Presbyterian Church.
A native of Louisville, Mr. Rivers was the son of the late James Thomas Rivers, Sr. and Jewel Fleming Rivers. Thomas was his mother's constant companion and comfort after his father passed. He attended Louisville Academy and later worked in the lunchroom at Louisville Academy for several years. He was a lifelong member of the Louisville Associate Reform Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully attended services. Thomas had many friends in Louisville and will be missed most by those whom he passed on his daily walks.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by numerous cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Wednesday, March 9, at the funeral home.
