Born on December 19, 1940, to Lester and Georgia Walden Griswell, James served his country in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He is survived by his son, Greg (Keri) Griswell; his daughters, Lisa (Jackie) Jones, Lora Neal, Christine (Jan) Mallie, and Stacie (Chris) Ledford; his brothers, Tommy (Cheryl) Griswell and Bobby (Tammy) Griswell; and his sisters, Gloria (Joe) Beckworth, Cherry Ybanez, and Donna Thigpen. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lexi, Harrison, Daniel, Susanna, Sophia, Isaac, Nortje, Michelle, Yvonne, Heleen, Casey, Emily, and Kyle; his great-grandchildren, Logan, Miley, Zayne, Maislynn, Malachi, Karter, and Tatum; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He possessed a strength that made others feel safe and left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Rest easy, James, and let someone else carry the torch now. The eagle has soared.
