Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mr. George Washington "G.W." Godbee, age 88 of Williford Road Louisville who died Sunday morning February 9, 2014 in the Heritage Health Care of Old Capital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday February 12, 2014 in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hibberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Godbee, Josh Otis, Matt Otis, Grady Perry, George Perry & Todd Story.
A native of Screven County, GA Mr. Godbee was a son of the late George Washington Godbee, Sr. & Florrie Amelia Kirkland Godbee. He had worked many years as a carpenter with Rains Brothers Construction & retired from Thermo King after 15 years of service. G.W. was a founding & faithful member of the Louisville Church of the Nazarene until it closed. He was a member of the Louisville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Godbee was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings and is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Mrs. Ruth Lamb Godbee of Louisville, several nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
The family may be contacted at the residences on Williford Road in Louisville and will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday February 11, at the funeral home.
