Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon January 21, 2025, in the Rose Due Cemetery in Vidette conducted by Greg Coursey and Jerry Taylor.
Mr. Peel was born in Vidette on March 7, 1945, to the late Gibert Shivers Peel, Sr and Martha Brown Peel. A graduate of Waynesboro High School and Georgia Southern. He served in the Army National Guard and retired in June of 2007 from Georgia Power after 30 years of service. Gilbert was a member of Louisville ARP Church and was a former deacon he was also a member of the Louisville Lions Club.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Justin Devore, sister, Sarah “Peggy” Peel, and a brother, Robert J. Peel and is survived by 3 daughters and son in-law, Kimberly (Michael) Shelnut of Winterville, GA., Natalie (Wayne) Johnson of Augusta, and Ashley (Dana) Peel Griffin of Statesboro, brother Leslie (Deborah) Peel of Vidette, special friend, Vicki Drew Mitchell, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.
