Taylor funeral home of Louisville announce the death and funeral services for Mr. Fred C. Pennington, Jr. age 94 of Walnut Street Louisville who died Saturday afternoon May 10, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday May 13, 2014 in the Louisville First Baptist Church with Mr. Steve Pennington and Rev. Jonathan Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons: Fred Pennington, IV, Taylor Pennington, Tucker Pennington, Rob Pennington, Reid Pennington and Jonathon Upton. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the T.W. Wilson Sunday school Class, & members of the Stone Wall Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Pennington was born in Augusta, GA on March 24, 1920 a son of the late Nodie Gay Pennington & Fred Cook Pennington. Mr. Pennington was a World War II Army Veteran serving in hospital support battalion in England & France. He was a Baptist believer in Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Louisville First Baptist Church for more than 65 years where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the T.W. Wilson Sunday school Class. Fred was Co-Owner of Pennington & Son Logging retiring in 1985. A Mason & member of the Stone Wall Masonic Lodge # 98 F&AM in Louisville for more than 50 years & the American Legion in Augusta.
Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 39 years and mother of his children Jean Bishop Pennington, his second wife, Bobbie Jean Cobb Pennington, brother Delmar Pennington, sister, Irene Goodin and is survived by sons & daughter in-laws, Fred C & Deborah Pennington, III of Sandersville, Anthony Gay Pennington of Louisville, Thomas Steven & Lawanna Pennington of Statesboro, his loving and faithful companion of 21 years Judy Bussell of Louisville, sisters, Mary Ann & Arthur Milligan of Augusta, & Martha Ann & Robert McElmurry of Augusta, 6 grandchildren: Traci P. & Grayson Upton, Fred C. & Kathy Pennington IV, Taylor Pennington, Tucker Pennington, Rob Pennington & Reid Pennington, 5 great grandchildren: Jonathan & Megan Upton, Lindsay Grace Upton, Mallory Upton, Addyson upton & Juliette Pennington, several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday May 12, at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Louisville First Baptist Church.
