Taylor Funeral Home of Waynesboro announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Franklin Leonard Herrington, age 73 of 512 South Liberty Street Waynesboro, who died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro with Rev. Craig Hutto, Rev.  Tom Oliver (Uncle) and Mr. Rosser Shymanski officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be: Wade Marchman, Britt Marchman, Cliff Oliver, Rick Oliver, Rex Herrington and Steve Herrington.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post #120.

Franklin was a native of Burke County, son of the late Leonard (Shine) Herrington and Mary O. Herrington. He was a 1961 graduate of Waynesboro High School and a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Korea with the AFKN Communication Network. He was a talented musician and a member of the Steel Guitar Association of TN.  Mr. Herrington was a member of the American Legion Post #120 in Waynesboro and a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro. For 20 years, he worked with Georgia Public Broadcasting as a Communication Technician before retiring. Franklin owned Herrington TV Production working as a consultant with First United Methodist Church of Atlanta and the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

Mr. Herrington was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl Dent Herrington of Waynesboro; daughter, Amanda Belle Herrington of Ponte Vedra, FL; son, Garrett Herrington of Waynesboro; brother, Tim Herrington of Dublin; niece, Heather Herrington of Dublin; and close friend, Tom Spencer of Atlanta.

The Herrington family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services in the church.
