Frances (Sinquefield) Clark

September 17, 1911 — August 9, 2012

Frances S. Clark died, peacefully, Thursday, August 9, in Augusta, Georgia. She was born September 17, 1911, in Louisville, Georgia, and was the daughter of William Richard and Marguerite Fryer Sinquefield. She was a lifelong resident of Louisville until she moved to Brandon Wilde in Augusta in 1996. She attended the schools of Jefferson County and was graduated in 1932 from Shorter College, Rome, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Little Clark also of Louisville. They were married 54 years.

She was given the unique nickname "trail" by her father and was called that her entire life by the many people who knew and loved her. After college she taught school prior to her marriage when she returned to Louisville and became a homemaker. She was a member of the Louisville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of several church organizations. She enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bridge player, continuing to play regularly into her nineties.

The funeral service will be at the Louisville United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 11, at 11:00 am with interment in the Louisville City Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Rev. David Hibberts assisted by Dwain Little. Visitation will be at 10:00 am immediately prior to the service.

In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her daughter, Jane Clark Mitchell, two grandchildren, Jane Marian Clark and John Chester Mitchell, Jr., and her two sisters, Anita Sinquefield English and Marguerite Sinquefield Tarrant. She is survived by her son Dr. William Little Clark, Jr. and his wife Marian, her grandchildren, Marian Hamilton Mitchell and her partner Emily Jennifer Vaias, and Rebecca Clark Rice and her husband Robert Williams Rice, Jr. Her four surviving great-grandchildren are John Chester Mitchell, III, William Clark Mitchell, Robert Williams Rice, III, and Carter Elizabeth Rice, two step grandchildren, Kayden Belle Austin-Vaias and Kylie Theresa Austin-Vaias.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Wilde Pavilion for the years of excellent loving care to Mrs. Clark.

Pallbearers will be: Mr. Denny Clark, Mr. Lee Clark, Mr. Sam Clark, Mr. William Easterlin, The Honorable John Murphy, Mr. Robert Williams Rice, Jr., and Mr. Laurence Smith.
