Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death of Mrs. Flossie Wood, age 89, of Jefferson Street Mitchell, Georgia who died Saturday morning September 6, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Monday, September 8, 2014 in Friendship Baptist Church in Mitchell with Rev. Phillip Prim officiating. Graveside service will be held 4:00 PM Monday in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Milton, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Danny Dunn, Ricky Pittman, Donald Pittman, Dustin Burnette, BJ Burnette, and Brett Algier. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of Friendship Baptist Church.
A native of Roswell, Georgia, Mrs. Wood was a daughter of the late Doc and Lula Stroup. She was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Mitchell.
Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George F. Wood, a daughter-in-law, Sue Wood, and is survived by daughters: Geneva & Marvin Dunn of Woodstock, Shirley & Pete Wynn of Mitchell, Betty & Donald Pittman of Austell, Donnie & Eddie Dunn of Woodstock; sons: Clyde Wood of Mitchell, Stevie Wood of Mitchell; sister, Edna Lingerfelt of Roswell, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
The Wood family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00PM Sunday, September 7, at the funeral home.
