Avera

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and celebration of life service for William Lewis "Dub" Partridge, age 75, of Avera who died Wednesday evening August 21, 2024.

Services to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday August 24, in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with Edward Salter officiating. Private burial will be in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dub was born Saturday, April 30, 1949, in a small house in Johnson County to Elijah Bryant Partridge and Addie Leona Akridge Partridge Jones.

When Dub was seven years old, he lost his father in a house fire. Even though this was tragic to him; God blessed him with a loving stepfather Robert Lee "Fuzz" Jones. Dub went on to serve his country in the United States Army. In 1970, Dub returned home, and in December 1971, he married Nita Wren. Dub worked as a parts man for over 30 years for Brooks Auto Parts, Snider Pontiac Buick, Lloyd's Auto Parts, and Henderson Chevrolet. He was known as the "Parts Man" because of his ability to find the right part. He made a multitude of friends through the relationships with his customers over the thirty years. Dub was an avid and very successful fisherman. It was always said that if he went and did not catch very many (which was rare), there was no need to go. He not only liked to catch fish but eating them was something he loved. In January 1998, after a thirty-three-year battle with alcoholism, Dub quit cold turkey and remained sober twenty-five years and seven months (until his passing). Dub had a passion every day to help others who were battling alcoholism. He was involved and a supporter of Alcoholic Anonymous. Dub, known by many as a spit fire and one-of-a-kind man, he loved his children and grandchildren. He had nicknames for them and had special bonds with each of them. In his later years of life, he would send a daily text to his children and grandchildren. Those texts would exhibit his very broad vocabulary, using words he made up.

Dub is survived by two children Jeffery "Jeff" Partridge (Melisa) of Wadley and Sandra "Sandy" Cato (Dairen) of Louisville, three grandchildren, Remington Lee Mathis, Robert Bryant Partridge, and Kinslee Cleo Mathis.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and compassion shown to him during his stay there.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of William Lewis Partridge to Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, P.O. Box 220, Keysville, Ga 30816.
