Mrs. Dorothy Alayne Six, age 84, of 2185 Old Mitchell Road, Gibsob, Georgia died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in the Warrenton Health and Rehabilitation Facility.
Services to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 17, in the Sheppard Funeral Home, with Dr. Pauline Hughes officiating.
Mrs. Six was a native of Long Branch, NJ, but had lived in Gibson for many years. She was a daughter of the late Alan Platt and Dorothy MacMillan MacIlroy. She was a Graduate of St Luke's School of Nursing in New York; she retired after many years as a Registered Nurse, was an avid painter, a reading volunteer at Glascock County School, and a member of the Art Guild in Louisville. She served on the Mitchell Museum committee and attend Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert A. Six, a brother Alan P. MacIlroy and is survived by her son Clinton Six of Farmingdale, NJ, daughters Allison Blair of Gibson, Heather Russo of Harrisburg, VA, and Suzanne Bostwick of West Long Branch, NJ, sisters Patti Gamin of Apex, NC and Kay Elhosn of Beiruit Lebanon, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
