David Usry

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. David Usry, age 75, of Usry Mill Road in Gibson, who died early Thursday morning, June 4, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 7, 2026, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson. Rev. Wayne Usry will officiate. Men serving as Pallbearers will be Mason Thigpen, Rick Hutcheson, Bobby Williams, Tony Usry, Bill Raley, and Adham Ali. Burial will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery in Gibson.

A native of Aiken, South Carolina, Mr. Usry lived most of his life in Glascock County. He was a son of the late Leon Moy Usry and Farris Williams Usry. He was employed with Jebco as a machinist for 20+ years. He enjoyed gardening, especially planting his many tomato plants, fishing, and watching NASCAR racing. He was typically a quiet person with few words, but when he spoke, people would listen. He loved his grandchildren and relished in the fact that all were boys because he had daughters instead.

David was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Edna Toole, F.J. Usry, Pet Usry, and James Usry, and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alicia Elouise Usry; daughters, Lisa Thigpen (Mark) of Avera and Priscilla Said (Adham) of Wrightsville; grandchildren: Mason Thigpen, Alex Black, and Abram Black; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, June 6th, at the funeral home.
