Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death of Mrs. Dahlia P. Haywood, age 84 of Warren Street, Mitchell who died Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014 in the Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, November 28, 2014 in the Mitchell Baptist Church with Mrs. Mary O. Griswell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jason Haywood, Wess Haywood, Tyler Haywood, Haywood Pulliam, Jacob Pulliam and James Hawkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Anthony Griswell, Clay Walden, Jimmy Haywood, Murphy Harrell, Leon Evans, Kendall Chalker, Gene Johnson and Larry Tucker.
A native of Jefferson County, Mrs. Haywood was a daughter of the late John Henry and Sabie Lee Palmer Peebles. She and her husband Jack owned and operated Haywood Amaco Service Station and Grocery in Mitchell for many years. She was a retired beautician, a long time faithful member of Mitchell Baptist Church, and a homemaker with a great love for her home and maintaining of her yard.
Dahlia was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years; Jack Haywood, sister; Hazel Irby, brothers; John H. Peebles, Jr., and Lindy Peebles and is survived by son; Jack L. Haywood (Ann) of Mitchell, daughter; Kathy H. Pulliam (Wayne) of Franklin, TN, sister; Miriam Peebles of Gibson, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren several nieces & nephews,
The Haywood family will receive friend's 2:00 to 3:00 PM before the service in the church.
