Taylor funeral home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Cloise Chalker Kent, age 94, of Gibson, who died Thursday, May 10, 2018 in the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Mitchell Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ed Chance officiating.

A native of Gibson, Mrs. Kent was a daughter of the late Thomas Marion Chalker and Viola Pullum Chalker. She was a first-grade school teacher in Glascock County and started the first kindergarten, a member of Gibson United Methodist Church, Rollins Hills Garden Club and Glascock County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas Pope Kent and is survived by sons Thomas B Kent of Gibson, William C. Kent & Virna of Canton, Georgia; daughters Andrea Kent Pennington and Jimmie of Gibson, and Nancy M Kent of Gibson, granddaughters; Kimberly Kent Holcomb & Tony, Kayce Kent Epperson, Haley Kent Whyte & Jason, Amy Pennington and Carla Pennington Day & Michael, several nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials to Gibson Methodist Church, Bethel Methodist Church or Mitchel Baptist Church.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Gibson is in charge of arrangements.
