Cary Phillips Briscoe, 90, passed away on May 18, 2022, at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Cedar Park, Texas after bravely enduring dementia while retaining her feisty spirit.  She was born in Louisville, Georgia on December 22, 1931, to Beth Spivy Phillips and John Robert Phillips, Jr. After graduating from high school in Louisville, she attended and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in homemaking.  She was married to Gordon L. Briscoe for many years, made Harlingen her home, and raised three daughters.  Cary later became a Realtor and enjoyed helping home buyers and sellers as well as managing and mentoring other Realtors.   She was active in the Harlingen Junior and Senior Service Leagues and Harlingen Board of Realtors on which she served as President for one term.  Cary was active in other civic organizations and was a supporter of the Humane Society.

Cary was an excellent cook and talented seamstress. She attended classes at TSTC (Harlingen), received a certificate in Drafting and Design and built several pieces of furniture.   During her long life, she enjoyed crewel and other needlework, music, gardening, playing the piano, sailing, swimming, traveling, politics and reading a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction.  She was a "dog person" and loved her miniature schnauzers, Dutch, Beau, Bonnie, and Clyde.

Cary is survived by her sister, Ann Phillips; daughters, Emily Briscoe Yelverton (Mark), Leigh Briscoe, and Beth Briscoe Carson (Ed); three grandsons, Max Yelverton, Benjamin Carson and William Carson; great grandson, Jack Carson; niece Andra de Vincenzo and family; and nephew Edwards Phillips and family.

A special thank you to her long-time friend and helper, Stephanie Adame, and to her caregiver, Ana Robles, both of whom enabled her to stay in her home for as long as possible.

Graveside inurnment services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday September 24, 2022 in the Louisville City Cemetery with Rev. Bill Cain officiating.

Those wishing to express sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial donation to a local animal shelter or humane society.
