Millen

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mr. Carey Bowen Cobb, 68, of Millen, who entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his residence, following an extended illness.

He was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on June 16, 1955, to the late William Wesley Cobb, Jr. and Eugenia Sasser Cobb. He made a career in agriculture, retiring in 2014 after 30 years with the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Carey was a member of Midville Baptist Church.

Before the deterioration of his health, Carey was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted the forests and fields and fished the ponds and rivers of our area since childhood. Always captivated by the wonder of God's creation, Carey enjoyed sharing his love of nature with others. He relished every opportunity to help a youngster kill their first buck or catch that elusive bass. Even at 68 years of age, Carey was a kid at heart and delighted in a good joke, a funny story, and spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Wesley Cobb, III and is survived by his   sister   Melanie   Cobb  (Ed   Madera)   of   New  York,   NY; sister, Rebecca Cobb Carter (Joseph) of Homerville, GA; sister, Jessika Cobb Smith  (Marty)   of Jacksonville, FL;  niece  and nephews, Kevin   Madera,  Bill Cobb, Bobby Cobb, Meredith Asper, Candler Carter, Michael Smith, and Isaac Carter;   many   cousins   and   extended   family   members   as   well   as   a   host   of friends. Among those most dear is Carey's lifelong friend James A. "Bubba" Black, Jr.  (Wanda) who provided great care and support during these last years.

Services   will   be   held   Friday, May   24, 2024, at   11:00   a.m. in the  Magnolia Baptist Church in Perkins, Georgia. Interment will take place at 2:00 PM Friday May 24 in the Wadley City Cemetery.
