Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Brenda Josey, age 74, of River Road in Wadley, who passed away Thursday morning, August 4, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Freedom Fellowship Church in Bartow.  Pallbearers will be Mark Brown, Michael Brown, Andy Austin, William Richards, David Josey, Rob Jackson, Austin Richards, and Payne Richards.

Brenda was the daughter of Ferney Oliver Saunders and Dorothy Holton Saunders.  She was born in Wrightsville, Georgia.  She was the fourth child out of seven children.  A very close and loving family.  She was privileged to be born at home because as the story goes, her older sister was a little tyrant, and no one would keep her for mother to go to the hospital.

Brenda was trained as a Lab Tech by Dr. William Mullons in Augusta.  She had a career of 42 years at the hospital with taking the position of Lab Director the last ten years.  She was known as "an easy draw" of blood to her patients.  She loved them and they loved her.

She loved animals of every kind, be it dogs, cats, turkeys, squirrels, racoons, or goats.  She took in animals from anyone that saw the need.  She and her husband, Jerry traveled to Florida to rescue a greyhound and to the Grand Canyon to rescue a donkey.  She also enjoyed her family and working in the yard.

She was a member at Oaky Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Josey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry Josey and is survived by 2 sons, Lance (Becky) Poole of Stapleton and Brad (Lisa) Poole of Louisville, stepdaughters, Renea (Joe) Oglesby of Bartow, Tina Coleman, Bartow, 2 brothers Sonny Saunders (Marty), Wayne Saunders, 3 sisters Nancy Austin (Tom), Kathy Josey (Wayne) and Gwenn Pope, 3 grandsons, 6 granddaughters and one great grandson.

Visitation will be at Taylor Funeral Home, Louisville on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
