Bobby Wayne Griswell

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and services of Mr. Bobby Wayne Griswell, age 73, of Glencoe, AL., formerly of Gibson, who died Friday evening, September 11, 2026, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 18, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson, with the family receiving friends from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in the family lot at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Mitchell with grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Dillon Griswell, Dylan Carter, Jay Marshall, Walker Tharpe, Kyle Jones, Luke Deraney, and Taylor Burroughs serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

A native of Glascock County, Mr. Griswell was a son of the late Lester and Georgia Walden Griswell. He attended Glascock County High School as a member of the Class of ‘71. He was a truck driver for forty years and retired from Dixie Pacific in 2000. Bobby liked to fish and loved a good fish fry. He enjoyed being outdoors on his tractor and out on the farm with his horses, cows, and dogs, but his greatest pastime was spending time with his family.

Mr. Griswell, was preceded in death by: parents, brothers: Leroy, James, Gerald, and Tommy Griswell, great-granddaughter Nevaeh Faith Griswell, and is survived by his wife: Tammy Griswell, children: James Wall (Rachel), Sandy Tharpe (Russell), Beverly Avery (Roger), Jennifer Reeves (Al), Jason Hinkle, grandchildren: Dillon Griswell (Colby), Morgan Rawlins, Alyson Carter (Dylan), Jay Marshall (Kayla), Walker Tharpe (Victoria), Breana Jones (Kyle), Bailey Deraney (Luke), Bethany Burroughs (Taylor), Shelby Hinkle, Nirvana Hinkle, Shelby Wall, Madison Wall, Luke Wall; sisters: Gloria Beckworth (Joe), Cherry Ybanez, Donna Thigpen; 23 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
