Taylor funeral home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Betty Jean Shelton, age 83 of Wrens who died Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Augusta.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 28, at Wrens Church of God with Rev. Josh Carswell and Bishop Jason Burton officiating.  Pallbearers will be Steve Gunby, Andrew Johnson, Jeff McGahee, Marty Amerson, David Lampp, Lewis Lampp, Justin Park, Jason Milborn.   Burial will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery, Gibson.

Betty was the daughter of the late Lamar Chalker and Bettie Lee Lamb Chalker.  She was also preceded in death by all of her sisters Mary Lou Chalker, Dorothy Thigpen, Jimmie Walden and a very special sister Virginia Chalker who was more like her daughter than her sister.  Betty is survived by her children Ray and Carol Lampp of Sandersville, Stevie and Wendy Lampp of Thomson and stepdaughter Angie Lyons of Thomson.  One brother Walter Chalker of Millen, GA who was very special to her.  A special niece Cyndi Wren who always seemed like her daughter, four grandchildren April and Steve Gunby, Sheree and Andrew Johnson, Ashley and Allen Haynes and Justin Park, four great grandchildren Haley, Baylea and Makay, Brycen, and Brody and two great great grandchildren Graycen and Kolten, all of whom she loved dearly.  A whole bunch of nieces, nephews, and lots of friends and her church family.

Betty loved her family unconditionally.  She also loved her church family at Wrens Church of God, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She loved Southern Gospel Music and would drive great distances to hear some good Southern Gospel singing.  Some of her favorites were The Inspirations, The Cathedrals, Triumphant Quartet, Mark Trammell Quartet and last but certainly not least Rick Griswold, who came and sang at her 80th birthday party. She especially loved going to the Singing in the Smokies in Bryson City, NC.

She also enjoyed doing things for others like driving them to the doctor when they couldn't drive themselves.

Visitation will be held   Saturday, April 27, from 6 until 8 pm, at the Funeral Home.
