Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mrs. Betty Thomas Hattaway, age 91, of Evans who died Tuesday morning, December 16, 2025, at Doctors Hospital of Augusta.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday morning, December 19, in the Louisville Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Underwood and Mr. Dwain Little officiating. Her final resting place will be in the family lot in Louisville City Cemetery.
Betty was the daughter of the late Herbert D. Thomas and Emmie Mae Thomas of Wadley, Ga. She was the widow of William Jerry Hattaway. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mike, and a daughter, Teresa, a sister, Gail Hattaway, and brother Meady Thomas.
Betty was a woman of faith and a member of Louisville Methodist Church and was a member of the Chancel Choir for several years. She read her Bible and did a devotion every day up until her final hours. Very rarely did you see Betty without a smile on her face. She had worked for Hadden’s IGA for several years and also was the secretary for the Louisville Methodist for several years. Betty’s greatest pastime was spending time with her family and friends.
Betty leaves to treasure her memories, a daughter, Della Hendrix (Ty), a son Bill (Joanna) Bartow, and a daughter-in-law, Becky Hattaway (Bobby). Betty adored her seven grandchildren: Bekki (Aaron) Hall, Thomson; Michael Hattaway (Kevin), Jason Hattaway (Chrissy), Megan Hattaway (Austin), Daniel Hattaway (Allison), Toni Hall, Lexington, SC; and Trey Hattaway, North Augusta, South Carolina, and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Connie Roberson (Kirk), and several nieces and nephews.
Betty lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Evans until about three years ago, when she moved to Gibson Health and Rehab, due to declining health. She was treated with love and compassion by a wonderful and caring staff. She made many friends there, but some were very special. She leaves behind Diane Marsh, Carol Landrum, and Frances Hillman. This group was called the “Golden Girls”. Take it from here ladies! Jeff Kitchens was like a son and also made sure she was taken care of.
The family would like to thank Gibson Health and Rehab for all their dedicated and sweet staff, Doctors Hospital, and Georgia Hospice Care, for nothing but love and comfort during her final hours.
The family suggest remembrances be made in her memory to Louisville Methodist Church, 301 West 7th Street, Louisville, GA 30434.
