With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Gregg. She was a devoted mom, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Services to celebrate her life will be held 6:00 pm Thursday evening May 1, 2025, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson.
She peacefully passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 66. Betty was born on January 03, 1959, and raised in Richmond County. She was a beacon of love and strength, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and joy.
Betty was preceded in death by her son, Earnest Lee Smith, Jr. (E.J.), her brother James Wilbur Gregg (Jimbo), and her parents James Earl Gregg and Louise Braswell Gregg. She was survived by her sister, Lena Gregg, her children, Michelle (Rick) Hopper, Phillip (Courtney) Renew, and Shanon (Kevin) Fain, her grandchildren, Jamie, Justin, Megan, Jessica, Kevin, Alyssa, Mattlyn, Ansley, Hannah, Brandon Jr, Steven, J.P., and Kayson, and her great-grandchildren, Carter, Jack, Chance, Jace, Annlyn, Easton, Brookelyn, Charlee, Maylee, Brandon, Cooper, Riley, Sawyer, Tannler, Lochlan, and multiple cousins.
She poured her heart into her children, always there to offer a comforting presence, a listening ear, and a warm embrace. She had many talents and hobbies such as crafting, conversating, spending time with family, thrifting, gardening, and fishing. As a grandmother, she showered her grandchildren with endless love, creating cherished memories and fostering a deep bond that will last a lifetime. She was a woman of strong faith, unwavering optimism, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
Betty's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
