Bernice C. Brooks

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and services of  Mrs. Bernice C. Brooks, age 93, who entered into rest December 31, 2014 at University Hospital McDuffie.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, in the Gibson Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating.

A native of Gibson, Georgia, Mrs. Brooks was a daughter of the late Barney & Nealie Chalker. She was a graduate of Glascock County High School and retired from Lily Tulip Corporation in Augusta. She was a long time member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Gibson.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mr. P.A. Brooks and six siblings. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Joe McCommons, of Thomson, grandson, Joe McCommons, Jr., of Portsmouth, NH; granddaughter, Ashlie Williams (Chuck), of Chapin, SC; and grandson, Brooks McCommons (Chris), of Bishop, GA; 5 great-grandchildren, Laura-Kate Williams, Blaine Williams, Neely McCommons, Bennett McCommons and Banks McCommons.

If so desired in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Magnolia Baptist Church, in care of Louis Swint 290 Swint Road Gibson, GA 30810

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In case of inclement weather, service will be held in the funeral home.
