Ann Willie Barfield

LOUISVILLE

Taylor Funeral home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Willie Barfield, of Middle Ground Road, who died Sunday, March 22, 2015 in the Georgia Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's.

Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28th in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with the Rev. Scott McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service.

Mrs. Barfield was a native of Wrens but a lifelong resident of Louisville. She was a daughter of the late Dewitt T. and Hattie Mae Ennis Willie. Ann was a graduate of Louisville Academy, a homemaker, book keeper and a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville. She was a devoted mother to her children and a loving grandmother and great grandmother.  In a letter to her children she wrote, "I love you all very much, so be happy for me because I have had a good life. You kids are more than I ever could have wished for.  How did I ever get so lucky?"

Mrs. Barfield's family and friends will greatly miss her and the many long conversations about her family and history.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children; George D. Barfield, son; Larry K. Barfield, brother; William Willie and is survived by her children; Wayne A. Barfield (Merriman) of John's Island, SC, JoAnn Hayes Winslow (Don) of Aiken, SC and Michal B. Godbee (William) of Evans, grandchildren; Lisa Smith (Billy), Amy Barfield, Brian Barfield, Elizabeth H. Stafford, Sean Hayes (Julie), Billy Godbee (Becky), Tonya G. Davis, Max Dowdle (Morrow), and Isaac Dowdle (Leigh), 17 great grandchildren, sister; Eve Griffin (Marvin), brothers; Ennis Willie (Gailya), Johnny Willie (Jeanette), several nieces and nephews.

If so desired, charitable contributions may be made in Ann's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Affinis Hospice or a charity of choice.
