Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death of Mr. A. O. Taylor, age 87, of ECC Mine Road, Gibson who died Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 23, 2014, in the Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Yancey Taylor, Matt Andrus, Scott Andrus, Joshua McCoy, Wendell Amerson and Glyn Thomas.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Mr. Taylor was a son of the late G. G. & Katie Clark Taylor. He was a diesel mechanic for 30 plus years and retired from the Yancey Brothers Company. He was an Army and Navy Veteran and a member of Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church.
A. O. was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his loving wife; Mary Eha Hawkins Taylor of Gibson, son; James L. Taylor (Jo) of Goldendale, WA, daughter; Lawanna Andrus (Don) of Gibson, brother; Paul Othel Taylor of Jacksonville, NC, sisters; Omega Whaley of Kinston, NC and Susie Clark of Raleigh, NC, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The Taylor family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the funeral home.
