Joyce D (Bowers) Newton

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Ms. Joyce Newton, age 73 of Highway 17 South, Louisville, GA, who died May 31, 2017 at her residence.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2017 in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens, Statesboro, GA with Mr. Barry Wren officiating. Pallbearers will be Ms. Newtons nephews.   

A native of Candler County, Joyce was a daughter of the late Curtis McKinley Bowers and Lena Bell Davis Bowers. She retired as a school bus driver with Bulloch County Board of Education after 30 years of service. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Wendell Newton; brothers, Earl Bowers and Billy Bowers and sister, Joann Lowery and is survived by son, Ernie & Leslie Newton of Louisville; daughter, Tammy Newton of Statesboro; grandson, McKinley Newton of Louisville; sisters, Faye Youmans of Metter and Diane Mercer of Metter; brothers, Gary & Jan Bowers of Metter and Larry Bowers of Statesboro, several nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, the Newton family request memorials be made to Brentwood School Athletic Department, P. O. Box 955, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.

In honor of Joyce, the family will have a memorial gathering 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the home of Ernie & Leslie Newton, 5555 Highway 17, South, Louisville, GA 30434.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville will be in charge of arrangements.
