Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Betty Ann Moats, age 82, who died Wednesday, October 28, 2018 in Indian Oaks Living Center in Harker Heights, Texas.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Warren County, Georgia, Mrs. Betty was a daughter of the late Joseph Edison Moates and Eva Pearl Thigpen Moates. She went to school in Mitchell, Gibson and Thomson, Georgia and was a 1954 graduate of Thomson High School. In 1955 she began working for southern Bell Telephone Company and retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. Mrs. Betty enjoyed reading, cross stich, crossword puzzles and loved her cats. She also enjoyed going the the Smokey Mountains with friends and family. She lived in Augusta, Georgia for over 50 years, before moving to Killeen, Texas with her niece Margie and her husband Javier.
Mrs. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; J.W. Moats, Mary Ellen Mathis and Susie Mae Ganus. She is survived by a sister, Ruth L. Lovett of Augusta, Ga.; nieces, Margie & Javier Esqueda, of Killen, TX, Deborah & Tim McClain of Wintersville, Ga.; nephews, Jimmy & Pam Moates of Greensboro, Ga., Jerry W. & Mary Kat Lovett of Auburn, AL, Thomas M. Lovett of Newnan, Ga.; great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
