Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Moses Griswell, Jr. age 88, of Gibson who died Monday morning February 12, 2024.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday February 16, 2024, in the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Frankie Griswell. Rev. Tommy Harwell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ben Hadden, Jim Holton, John Raley, Michael Costello, James Chalker and Michael Gilmer.

The family will be gathering at the home of John and Tricia Albright, 7458 Cason Road, Mitchell.

Moses was born in Washington County to the late Mr. Moses Griswell and Ruby Broadnax Griswell. He spent most of his life as a barber. He began cutting hair as a young boy with his father in their yard under the trees. He joined his father’s shop in Mitchell and shortly after went to barber school, where he graduated in only one day. He went straight to work as a barber in Guy’s Barber Shop, and even in Mr. Henry Howell‘s shop. He finally went on to open his own shop in Warrenton where he cut for over 50 years. He then opened a shop at home where he continued cutting hair for a total of over 60 years. Moses always loved his customers and never turned down a haircut to anyone. He even cut hair for the local nursing homes and funeral homes. He really loved the public. Moses loved his yards and always aimed to keep them beautiful. He loves spending time at the creek with family and friends.

He was preceeded in death by his loving wife for over 60 years Frankie Chalker Griswell. Survivors include brother Sam (Charlene) Griswell, a son, Harold (Suzanne) Griswell, a daughter, Trisha (John) Albright, three granddaughters, Ashley Haywood, Mindy (Kevin) Marsh, and Lauren Griswell, two grandsons, Tyler Sammons, John (Stacey) Albright, six great grandchildren, Kaylee and Adalynn Marsh, Presley Haywood, Brooks and Ava Albright, and Wyatt Sammons.
