Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral service of Mr. Verlin Lanier Manning, age 84 of Louisville who died Wednesday afternoon April 10, 2024, in the WellStar MCG Health Care in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday April 14, 2024, in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev Randy Walden officiating. Pallbearers will be Rodney McKinnie, Homer Hall, Earl Lowery, Kenneth Flounory, Tony McGruder, David Merriwether, and Roosevelt McKinnie. Mr. Manning will be laid to rest in the Louisville City Cemetery.
A native of Wadley Lanier was one of six children born to the late Luther Manning & Bessie Louise Tanner Manning. He worked for the City of Louisville Police Department for 6 years and served on the Louisville volunteer Fire Department for more than 19 years rising to the title of Lieutenant retiring in 1997 and served as a Bailiff for Jefferson County Court House, was a long-time member of Louisville Church of God.
He was preceded in death by Elizabeth Anne Manning, his parents, a sister, Mildred Foskey, brothers, Luther Clinton Manning Jr., & James Manning, and is survived by daughters, Sebrina Manning of Louisville, Kim & Bill Benton of Brunson, SC., grandchildren, Kristen & Jim Thomas, William Manuel “Bo” & Bridgette Benton, Samantha Benton, great-grandchildren, Eli Thomas, Rett Thomas & Laila Blocker, brother, Russell Manning of Louisville, sister, Jean & Bruce Stille of Macon, several nieces, nephews, many great-nieces & great-nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will gather at the home at 1790 D-Ponder Road in Bartow.
The Manning family will receive friends one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
