Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mrs. Betty Thomas Lingold, age 83 who died Sunday March 3, 2024 at her home in Gardens of Calvary.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A graveside service in her home town will be held 1:00 PM, Friday March 8, 2024 at Jefferson County Memorial Gardens, 5727 Highway 1 North, Louisville, GA.

Mrs. Betty was born September 9, 1940 in Jefferson County, GA to the late James Robert Thomas and Lucille Williams Thomas. She spent most of her working years at the Bank of Wrightsville in Wrightsville, GA. She served as a bank auditor for several banks including First Union. Her favorite job was being a grandmother and a great grandmother. She moved to the Columbus area in 2001 and enjoyed Morningside Baptist Church, walking in the park, and any reason for a family gathering. In 2021 she became an active resident of Gardens of Calvary. Despite her battle with dementia, she made new friends and thrived under their care. She loved winning at BINGO. After some falls and breaks Columbus Hospice added special love and care to her final months.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Monroe Lingold, Jr., sisters, Martha Watkins, Kathrine Howard, Jimmie Ethridge and Elizabeth Baxley.

Survivors include daughter, Donna Attaway Long of Cataula, GA, grandson, Jason Long of Fortson, GA, granddaughter, Tiffany Leduc (Nathan) of Midland, GA, great-grandchildren, Laila Leduc, Zane Leduc, Mattox Leduc and Ivy Grace Long.
