Obituary

Mr. Louis C. Lockhart, 61, of Valley, AL. formally of Tennille, GA died peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2009, after a brief illness.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Zeta Cemetery in Tennille, GA with Rev. Peter Barlow of the Tennille Methodist Church officiating. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 13 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Opelika, AL. Rev. Tim Thompson will officiate.

Mr. Lockhart was born November 16, 1947 in Tennille, GA, son of the late Louis and Kathleen English Lockhart (Fulghum). He had a long successful career in economic development, working in the states of Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. He was a graduate of Emory University and a brother in the Kappa Alpha Order. A devoted father and loving husband, he was also known as a natural born storyteller. Mr. Lockhart had endeared himself to many people and had friends in all walks of life.

Mr. Lockhart is survived by his wife, Hilda Collins Lockhart, of Valley, AL one daughter, Amy Lockhart of Franklin TN; one sister, Kay Cogburn, of two nephews Thomas (Lesley) Cogburn and Charles (Meg) Cogburn all of Atlanta, GA; and three great nephews.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First United Methodist Church of Opelika.
