Mr. William Broadus Wren, Jr., age 83, of Elm Street, Louisville, died Thursday night November 26, 2009, in the Jefferson Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 29, 2009, graveside, in the Louisville City Cemetery with Rev. David Hibberts officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Clifton, Mitchell McGraw, Lee Griffin, John Murphy, Joe Cox, and Frank Williford. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Barwick Sunday School Class of Louisville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wren was a native of Jefferson County. He was the son of the late William Broadus & Annie Davis Wren, Sr. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of Louisville United Methodist Church for more than 63 years. Mr. Wren owned and operated Wrens Hardware Store in Louisville for 65 years and was a member of Stonewall Masonic Lodge # 98 F & AM.
Mr. Wren was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Peggy Wren Linnenkohl. He is survived by wife, Nell Smith Wren, of Louisville, son, William Byron “Barry” Wren, and his wife & Angie, daughters, Patricia Wren Goodwin and her husband Jimmy, of Louisville, Dianne Wren Hadden and her husband Ralph of Gibson, sister, Frances Wren Prescott of Louisville, 6 grandchildren, Jimmy Wesley Goodwin, Jr., Jennifer Dianne Roberts, Christopher Wren Goodwin, Charles Michael “Chip” Clark, Ashley Marie Wren, Wilson Bailey Wren, 7 great-grandchildren David Jackson, Victoria Jackson, Kaitlyn Goodwin, Taiyler Goodwin, Bryson Goodwin, Blake Clark, and Cameron Clark and several nieces & nephews.
The Wren family will be at the residence and will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, November 28, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Louisville United Methodist Church, 301 West 7th Street, Louisville, GA 30434.
