Mr. William L. Cox, Sr., age 87, of Holly Circle, Thomson, entered into rest, Monday, May 4, 2009, in the Eisenhower Medical Center in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2009, in the Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Rollins officiating. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Taylor, Gary Ware Jr., Gary Rabun, Lester Smith, Rodney McGraw, and Mark Clay.
Mr. Cox was born on July 29, 1921, to the late Russell and Dora Cox. He retired as SMSGT/E8 from the US Air Force in 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Tom Cox, and a son, Gary M. Cox and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma R. Cox of Thomson, three sons and their wives: William L. & Betty Cox Jr. of Martinez, John M. & Martha Cox of Louisville, and Larry R. & Onnie Cox of Waynesboro; two sisters: Mary Dillon of Jacksonville, Louise & Walter Kitchens of Moxley; his grandchildren: Mary & Taylor Blalock, Anna & Randy Baggs, and Elizabeth Cox; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The Cox family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 5, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shepards Church, 6544 Cobbham Rd. (Hwy 150), Appling, GA 30802.
