Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Ms. Susan Campbell Monteith, age 73 of Vidette who died Friday, September 16, 2016 at her residence. 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Tuesday, September 20th, in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill Daniel officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday in the Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, SC with Mr. Joe Cheeks officiating. Pallbearers will be: Buddy Wren, Joe Cheeks, Walter Cannon, Jimmy Goodwin, Billy Jordan and Larry Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Barwick/Joe Gay Sunday School Class. 

A native of Columbia, SC, Susan was a daughter of the late Walter & Susan Monteith. She received a BS degree in 1964 from Wesleyan College and a Master’s Degree in 1966 from Auburn University.  She was Co-founder and Director of a private medical lab in Columbia, SC, and a Technical Representative for Roche Laboratory. Susan retired from Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center as a Microbiologist in 2003. Her Hobbies included photography, painting, sketching, and gardening.  Susan was an antique collector and was a co-owner of Thomson Time Company.  She loved animals, and had a passion for horses. She and her longtime friend, Margaret Tuchscherer, bred and raised Paso Fino horses on their farm in Vidette, Ga.  She was an avid Auburn football fan. She loved her church family at Louisville United Methodist Church and especially enjoyed volunteering as leader of the Young Hearts Group.  Susan will be missed by her many beloved relatives and close friends. 

Susan is survived by brother, Walter S. Monteith, Jr., of Columbia, SC; 3 nieces, Shields & Thomas Morgan, Elizabeth & Clay Sharpe and Sarah & Michael Rama; 1 great niece, 3 great nephews and her beloved Papillion companion, Eva. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the memorials be made to the Glory to God fund at Louisville United Methodist Church at 301 West 7th street Louisville, GA, 30434 or to the CSRA Humane Society at 425 Wood St Augusta, GA, 30904. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
