Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Reverend David Oliver Davis, Jr. (Uncle DD), aged 69 of Louisville. Rev. Davis was ushered into Christ’s presence on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from his earthly home following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1:30 PM in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Avera, with Rev. Gene Ghent officiating.

Reverend Davis was a native of Brunswick, GA, but had lived in Louisville for many years. He was a son of the late David Oliver Davis, Sr. & Perritt Leonard Davis.  He was a graduate of Wofford College & the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He worked in the United States Postal Service in Louisville for 22 years, and served as pastor of 3 area churches, spanning a total of 35 years: Langston Baptist in Clinton, SC; Central Baptist in Louisville and Pleasant Grove Baptist in Avera. David served as Moderator of the Hephzibah Baptist Association. His passions were fishing with friends, cruising the local yard sales and thrift shops for a bargain, and acting in the Bartow Community Theater.

Reverend Davis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 41 years; Cathy Lambert Davis and is survived by his wife; Gloria Baughn Davis of Louisville,  his children; Davy (Melinda) Davis of Greenwood, SC, Angel (Kevin) Davis Skinner of Gaston, SC,  Matthew (Jennifer) Davis of Greenville, SC,  Trey (Sara) Baughn of Simpsonville, SC,  and Cameron (Margaret) Baughn of Pawleys Island, SC, his 11 grandchildren; Rebecca (Sean) Davis Holtzclaw, Beth Davis, Noah Skinner, Eli Skinner, Davy Davis, Katie Davis, Reagan Baughn, Caleb Baughn, Jack Baughn, and Knyle Davis and a brother; David Michael Brown of Cross Anchor, SC, several nieces, nephews & many friends.

The Davis family will receive friends following the service Saturday at the church.

If so desired, memorials may be made to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, c/o Dr. Brian Hawkins, 9420 Blackshear Hwy, Baxley, GA 31513.
