Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Herman Johnson Short, age 90 of Coleman Chapel Road, Wadley, Georgia, who died Wednesday afternoon in the Vero Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Wadley, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church, Kite, Georgia with Elder Sam Adkins and Elder Lindy Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery, Swainsboro, Georgia. Pallbearers will be: Clint Rowland, John Goodwin, Tommy Chandler, Allen Dykes, Benjie Leaptrott and Hamp Griffin.
A native of Emanuel County, Herman was a son of the late Leon Short and Dora Johnson Short. He was a retired car salesman from Daniels Chevrolet in Swainsboro, Georgia, and a member of the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church in Kite, Georgia.
Mr. short is preceded in death by his parents, sons, Jack Edward Short and Robert “Bobby” Lewis Short, sister, Lutrelle Short Sumner and William Sumner and stepson, Randy Lewis Rowland, and is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rowland Short of Wadley, son, William “Bill” Flanders Short of Swainsboro, daughter, Nancy Short Jordan and Tom of Bartow, step-daughter, Dianne Rowland Griffin and Hamp of Savannah, step-daughter in law, Carrie Givens Rowland of Tifton, granddaughters, Harli Short Moore and Mark of Collins, Ginn Jordan Holder and Jeff of Athens, Shannon Short, grandson, Javin Jordan, step-granddaughters, Kelley Chandler and Tommy of Murrells Inlet, SC, Clancey Goodwin and John of Atlanta and Allison Rowland of Tifton, step-grandson, Clinton Lewis Rowland and Melissa of Tifton, 7 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.
The Short family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church, 1473 Wes Lawson Road, Kite, Georgia, 31049.
