ANGEL M COLON

Taylor Funeral Home of Waynesboro announces the death of Mr. Angel M. Colon, age 84 of Hephzibah, who died Saturday morning, April 23, 2016 at his residence.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waynesboro with Father Victor Marquez serving as celebrant. Pallbearers will be:  Angel M. Colon, Jr., Erving Colon, Giancarlo Rucci, Moises Perez, Pablo A. Rivera and Felix M. Colon. Entombment, with Military Honors, will be at the Burke Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

A native of Cidra, Puerto Rico, Mr. Colon was a United States Army Veteran with more than 20 years of service, serving in Vietnam and in Korea. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waynesboro for more than 23 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Angel was preceded in death by his father, Santos Colon; mother, Julia Colon; son, Edwin R. Colon; siblings, Luis A. Colon, Santos Luis Colon, Juan Colon, and Virginia Colon-Barreto. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dolores Rivera de Colon; son, Angel M. Colon, Jr.; daughters, Norma I. Ashmawee, Jeannie A. Colon and Sheyla D. Rosas; sister, Jenny Santiago; brother, Emilio Colon; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Parkinson’s Association.

The Colon family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2016, with a prayer service being held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
